Stuffed green bell peppers with ground beef

Green bell peppers stuffed with ground meat is a classic dish with its roots in the traditional home cooking of various regions. This dish became popular in many parts of the world due to its comforting flavor and the ideal combination of simple yet nutritious ingredients.

In Latin America, this dish can be found with slight variations and under different names. For example, in Mexico, it is common to find similar versions known as "chiles rellenos," although they generally use poblano peppers and other fillings, while in countries like Colombia or Venezuela, stuffed peppers are usually made with ground meat and abundant spices, and are simply known as "stuffed peppers." In Argentina and Chile, there are also versions that incorporate cheese and breadcrumbs to give a creamy and crunchy texture.

The origin of stuffed peppers is linked to the efficient use of ingredients available in home kitchens, where vegetables are taken to the oven and stuffed with mixtures of meat and bread, providing a nutritious and tasty dish that can vary depending on the region and personal tastes.

How to prepare Green bell peppers stuffed with ground meat

To prepare this recipe, you will need the following ingredients: ground meat, green bell peppers, bread, Italian seasoning, vegetable juice (such as V-8 or tomato juice), Roma tomato, dry breadcrumbs, and Parmesan cheese.

Brown the ground meat and finely chop the tomato.

Add the V-8 or tomato juice and the seasoning until all the ingredients are hot, then remove from the heat.

Roll the bread slices in your hands over the meat sauce one by one and mix with the sauce.

Remove the tops and all the seeds from the peppers.

With a spoon, place enough meat mixture into each pepper to fill them completely.

Sprinkle the breadcrumbs and then the cheese on top of each stuffed pepper to cover the meat mixture.

Place the peppers in a baking dish with approximately 1/4 inch of water and cook in an oven at 350 degrees until each pepper is soft to the touch.

This recipe can also be used for stuffed tomatoes, but the cooking time will be shorter.

Enjoy!
