Oatmeal and honey cookies

Oat and honey cookies are a classic in baking, combining the soft and crunchy texture of oats with the natural sweetness of honey. This type of cookie has its origins in the culinary traditions of Northern Europe, especially in countries like England and Scotland, where oats are a fundamental ingredient due to their abundance and nutritional properties. In Latin America, these cookies are also very popular and go by different names depending on the country. For example, in Mexico they are usually simply called "oat cookies," while in Argentina and Chile they are known as "oat and honey cookies." In other places like Colombia and Venezuela, honey is a frequent ingredient that provides natural sweetness and a distinctive flavor, making this recipe easily adaptable to local tastes.

Besides being a delicious snack, oat and honey cookies have been valued for their energy content and health benefits, as oats are rich in fiber and honey provides antioxidants. They are ideal for breakfast or a snack and can be customized by adding dried fruits or nuts, as indicated in the variation we present below.
