Holy basil chicken is a traditional dish with its roots in Southeast Asian cuisine, especially in Thailand. This dish is known for its freshness and the distinctive aroma provided by holy basil, an herb prized for its unique flavor and medicinal properties. In different Latin American countries, this recipe may have variations in its name or ingredients, but it is commonly known as "chicken with basil" or simply as a chicken stir-fry with aromatic herbs. Its popularity has grown thanks to the fusion of flavors between spicy, sweet, and salty, making this dish a favorite option for those who enjoy exotic and healthy food.
In Latin American countries, although holy basil is not a common ingredient, it is often adapted with similar herbs like common basil or cilantro. The essence of the dish lies in the combination of tender chicken, fresh bell peppers, and the intense flavors of garlic and chili, thus representing a perfect balance between tradition and culinary creativity.
