English bread pudding

English bread pudding is a traditional dessert with its roots in British cuisine, particularly popular during Christmas celebrations. It is believed that its origin dates back to the Victorian era, when creative ways were sought to use up stale bread and other ingredients available at home. This pudding is characterized by its dense and moist texture, enriched with aromatic spices and dried fruits.

In different Latin American countries, this dessert goes by various names, although it maintains similar ingredients and preparations. For example, in Mexico and some Central American countries, it is simply known as "bread pudding," while in countries like Argentina and Uruguay, the expression "English pudding" is used to highlight its foreign origin. Despite regional variations, bread pudding remains a comforting classic on many family tables, ideal for using up leftover bread and enjoying a homemade sweet with history.
