Corn fritters

Corn fritters are a delicious culinary tradition with roots in the popular cuisine of various Latin American countries. This dish is characterized by its crispy texture on the outside and soft on the inside, and its unique flavor that combines the natural sweetness of corn with aromatic spices. In Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, and other countries, fritters are enjoyed both as a savory side for main meals or as a special snack at family festivities. Although their preparation varies slightly by region, the corn fritter always maintains that traditional essence of simple yet flavorful ingredients.

In different Latin American countries, fritters can take on diverse names or be adapted to local recipes. For example, in Colombia they are often served as a complement to spicy sauces, and in Mexico they may include variations with chili or herbs that enrich their flavor. This recipe is a reflection of the indigenous heritage mixed with Spanish influence, which has left a profound mark on the regional gastronomy.

How to Make Corn Fritters

Heat the fryer to 375°F.

Stir all the ingredients together.

If it is too liquid, add more flour.

If it is too thick, add a little more milk.

You want the mixture to have the consistency of a light batter.

Drop teaspoonfuls into the hot oil.

Cook until golden brown on all sides.

Remove from the oil and place on paper towels to drain.

Sprinkle with salt to taste.

The chicken bouillon cube can be omitted if a chicken flavor is not desired or can be substituted with a beef bouillon cube.

Just dissolve the cube first.

For spicy corn fritters, add 1/4 cup of chopped jalapeños.
