Creamed Onions II
Creamed onions are a traditional dish with its roots in the home cooking of various Latin American countries, where simple ingredients are used to create comforting and delicious flavors. In some regions, they are known simply as "gratinéed onions" or "onions in white sauce," while in other countries their name may vary depending on the seasonings used or the method of preparation, such as in Mexico, Colombia, and Peru.
This dish combines the softness and natural sweetness of onions with a creamy sauce that enhances their flavor, resulting in a preparation that is commonly served as a side dish or a light main course. Over time, each family has adapted the recipe by adding ingredients such as different types of cheese, spices, or broths, making it a versatile but always delicious recipe.
