Spicy Fish Cakes: History and Origin

Spicy fish cakes are a delicious preparation that has been enjoyed in various cultures throughout Latin America and other regions of the world. This dish combines the freshness of fish with intense and spicy flavors, achieving a unique balance that adapts to different palates.

In Latin American countries, this recipe can vary in name and style. For example, in Mexico they are often called "tortitas de pescado," while in some areas of Central America they are known as "buñuelos de pescado." In Argentina and Uruguay, a similar preparation is called "pescado a la criolla," referring to the mix of traditional seasonings used in these cakes.

The origin of spicy fish cakes is linked to coastal culture, where fresh fish was an accessible and versatile ingredient. The incorporation of spicy condiments and aromatic herbs reflects the Spanish and African influence on Latin American cuisine, fusing flavors that have transcended borders and generations.
