Animated pizza cake

The Animated Pizza Pie is a recipe that combines the essence of two beloved dishes: pizza and meatloaf. Its origin dates back to the need to use common ingredients in a different and practical preparation, perfect for sharing with the family. In several Latin American countries, this dish may be known in various ways, such as "meat pie with pizza ingredients" or simply "pizza-style meatloaf." Although it does not have a universal name, its popularity has grown thanks to the delicious mix of spiced meat and the classic Italian flavors that everyone enjoys, such as pepperoni, olives, and mozzarella cheese.

In some places, this recipe is adapted with local ingredients, and in countries like Mexico or Argentina, it can be found with variations that include different types of cheeses or vegetables. However, the main idea remains: to turn a classic dish into a fun and animated experience that resembles a pizza, but with the texture and juiciness of a meatloaf!

How to Make Animated Pizza Pie

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Mix the meats, breadcrumbs, egg, oregano leaves, salt, and half of the tomato sauce.

Press the mixture evenly against the bottom and sides of an ungreased 10-inch pie plate.

Sprinkle the mushrooms and olives over the meat mixture, then pour the remaining tomato sauce over the vegetables.

Bake uncovered for 25 minutes.

The pepperoni gives the meat a red-speckled appearance.

Sprinkle the pie with the shredded cheese and bake for an additional 5 minutes.

Let it cool for 5 minutes and then cut into 6 portions.

You can also use an 8-ounce can of cut green beans or whole kernel corn instead of the mushrooms if you wish.
