Origin and history of salad dressing
Salad dressing is an essential accompaniment in many culinary cultures, used to enhance the flavor of fresh vegetables and provide a more pleasant texture. Its history dates back to various gastronomic traditions in which the combination of oils, vinegars, and other natural ingredients was used to season and preserve food.
In Latin America, this type of dressing has different names and variants depending on the country. For example, in Mexico it is commonly known as "aderezo", while in countries like Argentina and Chile it may be called "vinagreta". In other places like Colombia and Venezuela, similar terms are used and local ingredients are incorporated to provide a distinctive touch, although the base remains similar: oil, vinegar, and flavorings.
In general, salad dressing has evolved to adapt to specific diets and health preferences, such as the case of the low-sodium dressing we present below, ideal for those looking to reduce their salt intake without sacrificing flavor.
