Hot tomato sauce

Hot tomato sauce is a traditional preparation with its roots in home cooking across various countries. Its origin dates back to simple mixtures of fresh ingredients and preserves that families have made to accompany main dishes, especially in areas where tomatoes are a common crop. In Latin America, this sauce may have different names depending on the region: in Mexico and Central America it is usually known simply as "salsa caliente" (hot sauce), while in countries like Colombia and Venezuela it is called "salsa picante de tomate" (spicy tomato sauce). Its popularity lies in its versatility and flavor, combining the smoothness of the tomato with the spicy touch of ingredients like sambal or local chilies.

In many Latin American homes, this sauce is served with traditional dishes like rice, pasta, and fish, in addition to being a complement for quick snacks. The inclusion of garlic, ginger, and soy sauce in some variants adds a nuance of oriental flavors that has been integrated through cultural exchange. In short, hot tomato sauce is a clear example of how regional cuisine can fuse simple ingredients to achieve delicious and comforting results.
