Fruitcake is a traditional dessert with roots dating back centuries in Europe, particularly in England, where it was prepared for special occasions like Christmas. This cake is characterized by its richness in dried fruits and spices, which gives it a unique and festive flavor. In Latin America, fruitcake is also very popular and is known by different names depending on the country; for example, in Mexico it is called "panqué de frutas," while in countries like Colombia and Venezuela it is commonly referred to simply as "bizcocho de frutas." This cake is a clear example of how European culinary traditions fused with local ingredients, giving rise to a delicious variety appreciated throughout the region.
