Devil's Coffee is a traditional beverage that combines the pleasure of coffee with a special and fiery touch. Its origin dates back to ancient European preparations where liquors and spices were mixed to create drinks that would warm the body in cold climates. In Latin American countries, this beverage may have different names or similar variants, although the essence remains: strong coffee enriched with citrus fruits and spices that are complemented with a distilled alcoholic spirit. For example, in Mexico and some Caribbean countries, it is known as "coffee with spiced liquor" or simply as a flambéed coffee drink. Its fame lies in the way the spices and citrus fruit provide intense aromas, while the fire from the brandy or cognac adds a dramatic touch and a unique flavor.
The combination of ingredients such as orange and lemon peel, cinnamon and cloves, along with sugar and brandy or cognac, creates a deep sensory experience that highlights the traditional flavor of strong coffee. This beverage is perfect for those who enjoy robust and somewhat spicy flavors, ideal for sharing at gatherings where the goal is to impress with a unique recipe steeped in history.
