Steps:

Prepare the basic ground meat -- except spread the mixture in an ungreased 9 x 9 x 2 or 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking pan.

Omit the ketchup and reduce the baking time to 40 to 50 minutes.

Drain the excess fat.

Distribute the hot potatoes evenly over the meat in the pan and sprinkle with the grated cheese.

Bake until the cheese melts, approximately 2 to 4 minutes.

Serve hot on a slightly warmed platter.
